Vanguard
10 A.M. SERVICES

February 5        Trudy Northway: “History in the Making”:  Shaping history to fit the needs of the present.

February 12: Wim Ruyten: “How to Deal Constructively with Guilt”: The speaker will reflect on the problem of how we deal with
guilt.  When is it appropriate? When does it get in the way of living our life?  How can it be overcome when we know that we have
hurt someone?   If we have outgrown the idea that God can forgive us (because, well, you know…) then who can?  Is it selfish to
forgive oneself?  Is it possible?  The speaker will suggest some approaches (but is really hoping to be further enlightened during
talk-back time). -- But please be compassionate; he was raised Catholic.

February 19: Doug Traversa: “Ecology as Religion: why we must incorporate ecological concerns into all aspects of our personal
faith.”

February 26: Stan Bumgarner: “To See or Not to See:” A reflection on how crucial other people are to our own understanding of
“self” and how we choose to experience the world. (Potluck lunch afterwards)
